Location: Tuscany, Italy | A friend of mine in town get started the fine arts of liuthery !!
He's a self-taught person. As usual he started with some reparing job on used guitars, making some guitar building experimentation for himself and close friends. Of course this is not what he does for living and he's not yet consider himself a luthier but more a guitar player with a deep passion for making instruments. I disagree as the few guitars of him I saw and played are awesome and sound beautifully.
So that to encourage him I got one of his beaut that suite me more. Here is a pic; others on my page in ning site.
This guitar is a grand auditorioum model. All solid woods. The top is of italian spruce from val di Fiemme beautifully aged. Scalopped X bracing. Back and side are of indian rosewood, neck is made of sipo mahogany, grover sta-tile machine head, rosette and inlays are of real blu abalone from Vietnam. Pins made of bone and saddle and nut made of tusq. Fretboard and bridge : ebony. Do hope you like it.

I keep coming back to view your new 'treasure' trying to find a suitable name for it. It's not like any other top I've seen...
Then I dawned on me... 'Glacier' or 'Avalanche'! Toss goggles, ski poles and a pair of ski gloves next to it and BINGO! |
