Location: Upper Left USA		So me and the Mrs. had a lovely little kayak outing this morning. We left Hoodsport, WA and paddled up the Skokomish River estuary for lunch and nature.


It seems this is a popular thing to do...

Anybody venture to say how fresh these tracks are?

Kayaks have become very popular around here for back water fishing and nature watching.

Location: Upper Left USA		It was about 10:30 am when we arrived, I suspect the tracks to have been placed about 2 hours before. When you can see the claw tips in the wet sand it speaks "freshness". Any educated opinions on this?

I believe there were at two of these cats as well, one larger, likely the "Mom". Not to worry though, the last thing they'd want is to be naer us.

There is a lot of heavy brush and this area is only accessible by boat - kayak or flat. I had never seen Bobcat sign before so this was really cool. There were at least five Eagles around today and everone looked well feed, my guess is there was a lot of "food" for the whole chain.

Location: Marlton, NJ		Woody - I spent a couple of days in Seattle this past week - my first time - beautiful place! I stayed in Kirkland. It was a work trip so I didn't have too much (none actually) free time. I did look you up on the map... how do you get there from Kirkland??

I will be back in the next couple of months and will make sure I get to spend some quality time.

Location: Upper Left USA		Traditionaly, you would have to find a Cedar tree that has fallen and using burning embers, shells and stone you would hollow out a "dugout" canoe. Then you take your entire cache of resources, load the canoe and paddle to the base of Hood Canal (Pale Face name) at Potlatch where you would give it all away to the other tribes (who hopefully gave to you). This was how they swapped stories, resources and married off their snotty Teenagers.

It sounds like a lengthy process but the alternative would be to head South on I-5 to Tacoma, go North on 16 across the Narrows Bridge for about 15 miles and take a right on Sedgewick Road - at the Shari's and McDonalds.

If you were on I-5 this last Memorial Day weekend you'd prefer taking the dugout...

Likely just around and after break of dawn. The smaller tracks are left-handed.
