Joined: August 2009 Posts: 6 Location: N Florida | Hello Parrotfish44, I've got red serial number 1069 "Pat. Applied For" up here in N FL. Bought it new in '68, manufactured in Nov '67. Mine is in the shop right now having the plastic top half of the rosette glued back down. They tend to shrink and pop up around the outside edge. Not sure why mine did that. Probably just old age... like me! Maybe we can get them together for an A/B test sometime. ~Pete | ||

Joined: August 2007 Posts: 1008 Location: Tuscany, Italy | Michael, according to "the Book" i.e. the history of the Ovation guitar, the range is : 006 - 319 made in 1966 3 digits red ink 320 - 999 made in 1967 (feb-nov) same as above 1000 - ... made in 1967 nov - 1968 july 4 digit black ink no letter prefix and so on.. then A + 3 digits made in 1968 (july - nov) B + 3 digits made in 1968 nov - 1969 feb C + 3 digits made in 1969 (feb - sept) and so on.
