I am a newer member and am having fun on this site.
My first Ovation was, and still is, a 1973 Ovation Legend Model 1617-4 Serial #008343.
I bought it the only year the NAMM show was in Miami.(I think Chicago was having a blizzard)
That was the start of my fascination with Ovation guitars.
It's only the last few years that I have I a Breadwinner Ltd., a custom shop Ovation Elite 2000 Ltd. Ed. Burled Walnut made for the now defunct MARS Music stores, a Viper and a Viper III.
I don't know how to put photos on this site, but I put some of the Vipers at http://ovationfanclub.ning.com/profile/nibblegribitz
Speaking of Vipers, the serial numbers are
E-12031 and E-16752. Which one is older?
Also, which are rarer, the 2-screw silver/black tuners with silver insert or the 1-screw silver tuners with "U" shaped insert?
Sorry for the length of this message. |

"E-12031 and E-16752. Which one is older?" The one with the lowest number...
As to the tuners, I think that they are supposed to have the silver and black two-screw tuners.
[Personally, mine has some after-market no-screw tuners, but I didn't have to put any extra holes in] |

Still sounds good!! Case is a little bubbley.
I'm in the northwest corner of Dade County(just north of Miami).
My legend came with gold tuners, do you know if that was standard? |
