Location: USA - New Jersey | Does the XLR cable have a 1/4 inch connection on one end and the xlr on the other. If not does the amp have to have an xlr imput on it in order to use this feature? |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | If you are speaking of the XLR output from your Ovation guitar, you have to use a special XLR cable. A regular XLR cable will not work. I had the same question when I purchased my first Ovation with that feature. What I discovered was that I would probably never use it for regular play, so the cost of the cable wasn't worth it to me. I guess if your were planning on doing some serious recording it may be worth the investment, but the standard 1/4 inch cable works just fine for everything i need to do. |

Location: closely held secret | It's not 'special', Vince. It just needs to have pin 1 tied to the shell to use phantom. Probably better than 1/2 the XLR cables on the market are wired this way, or it's no big thing to do it yourself, if you can handle a soldering iron. |

Location: Battle Creek, MI | here is what is good about the XLR ouput on the guitar for me. I use an acoutasonic amp that has 2 channels one with 1/4 inch input and the 2nd channel has XLR for Mic. I use 2 guitars when i play out and with this set up, I plug one into the 1/4 inch, and my other guitar with XLR out connects up to the Mic Channel. works great and dont have to keep changing volume and EQ every time i change guitars |

Location: Sydney, Australia | For me, the XLR is useful because the volume controls on the PA are locked away so we monkeys can't destroy the settings. The signal out from the XLR packs a much greater punch than from the 1/4". I set it at the first notch for picking and less for strumming. On 1/4" I have to dial my guitar up all the way just to hear it when I'm strumming. |
