Location: USA - New Jersey | NO, I read the owners manual and think I am pretty handy but never having done anything like it I was a litte nervous to try. When I fret the low e string on the first and last fret the neck seems dead straight but the action seems high from the 9th freet down. |

Location: Scotland | Just do it yourself, you can't ruin anything by removing a shim. You can always put it back if the action is too low.
If the neck is dead straight you might need to back off the neck rod a little. Don't be scared of that either. Try a search in the archives and you'll find instructions on how to do it
Basic action adjustments and general set-up are well within the scope of the average guitar owner and are skills worth developing. |

Location: Location Location Location | You can do it yourself as others have suggested; but if you decide to have the guitar serviced for this, or for any other reason, a week is not a long time to wait. Anyone worth their salt, service wise, will generally take much longer than that. The good techs are very busy people. Down here in Austin, a month to 2 is the norm, and longer if you're having a bigger job done, like a neck reset, or fret work. |
