Have you guys seen this? Ney Mello's Ovation Custom Legend 32 fret scalloped fingerboard. "The only one in existence". Scroll down about 4/5ths of the page to see a close up shot. It certainly looks broken in!

I don't know much about this Brazilian musician, but you guys might. Obviously, he's talented, but this music isn't my cuppa tea:

VERY interesting!

I've never understood the "scalloped" thing.
Seem like you'd really have to control the pressure excerted on the string to stay in tune.

Like finger-style, those scalloped player's brains are just wired different.

I play with a scalloped Strat and it's very pleasant, you cannot really play out of tune unless you want to, and the pressure you have to exercise is...painful.

On the other side you have perfect control on the string, and it's very useful for your vibrato and for bending.

I confess that I toyed with the idea of scalloping an acoustic, my BCS would be perfect because it doesn't have binding, but on the other side it's a collector's edition... :o
