For those of you with #47's and the first OFC slotheads, how many of you take them out of the house and play them when playing with groups or while gigging?

I don't play with groups or gig, because of a lack of opportunity, but I took the OFC everywhere I've been since I had it and plan to do the same with the #47.

Paul, Of COURSE I take the 47/OFC out to play. You wouldn't want me to use one of the expensive ones, would you?

I've taken it to all of the gatherings that I've been to. It's probably the least delicate guitar I have. Just ask Lanaki... ;)

The #47 has been across the Pacific by boat twice, then on to your house for a spell and then the back of the station wagon across country. Yes, it has gotten out.

OFC I in the wagon from Virginia to a visit at Beggin's in South Carolina and down to Amelia. I drag it along on about half my road trips, the rest of the time one of the solid bodies and my MicroCube.

Well I don't play out, at this stage anyway.

I have no hesitation in taking ol'45 anywhere

I take my 47 out regularly to a concert or a gathering...I also gig regularly w/ the rest of the Adamai and the '48 Martin D-28...I switch up depending on the gig and circumstances...If I can't or won't play them...they get sold...

Maybe a little of the "Hawaiian" rubbed off on it. It's sitting in my lap right now playing some Slack Key (well.. attempting to anyway).

All O's and A's were meant to be played "outside". Face it, that's part of the attraction. Then there's the fact that they stay in tune, sound great plugged in, and not plugged in. Can "survive" for 30+ years of rugged treatment and still sound better.

Screw it, I think I'll buy a Collings for the campfire!

Amen.

I remember hearing a story about Paul McCartney, an Ovation user for a couple of Wings tours. The story was that he wanted all his tour guitars financed by Ovation, and when refused, he stopped playing them in concert. Wonder if that's true.

Anyway, they sure are underrated lately.
