My main guitar has always been a 12string (currently my '79 Pacemaker). More than anyone else, Lightfoot is responsible for me falling in love with the 12string sound way, way back when.

It'll be an interesting venue...Chatauqua Institution is essentially an outdoor theatre with a roof over it, and it's gonna be a rainy night next to Chatauqua Lake. Very wet breeze blowing around acoustic guitars.

I know Mr. Lightfoot doesn't have a good singing voice any more. And his band has been playing the exact same music in the exact same positions on the stage...for 30-40 years. Overriding all of that, this man has written a huge percentage of the songs I've been in love with for most of my life. Can't wait to stand in line in the rain to hear him and his 12string tonight.

John,

I'm sure you'll enjoy it. My brother had a backstage pass for the Gordon Lightfoot concert that came here a few months ago.

My brother told me that not only was Gordon very nice, but he did a really good show.

Feel blessed that you're going somewhere tonight. My plans fell through for going to WV this weekend. Jackson Browne is coming to Saratoga tonight and I don't have tickets or friends that can go with me....Grr!

Sorry John, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. I went to edit it and the time had elapsed.

I can see why Gordon inspires you. I heard "Sundown" a few days ago and really appreciate the guitar work in that song.

If you're a Lightfoot fan, as I am, you might want to take a look at this guy's stuff. Some of it is absolutely uncanny.

One of my ol' favorite singer/song writers. "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is an epic song.

I sang "Beautiful" to SWMBO at our wedding and 30th anniversary. I should do it more often. Maybe she'd get over the latest guitar purchase.

One of my favorite songwriters of all time. I saw him in San Diego back in the early 70's. One of the best shows I've ever seen. He was here in the Hills a month or two ago but I couldn't make it to the show. Enjoy it for me.

Saw Lightfoot about a year ago in Chattanooga,
His voice took a few numbers to warm up but overall a very fine performance. His voice is better than a lot of guys still out there. ie Elton John,The guy from Dep Lepparod, Dylan oh what Dylan never could sing.
Crashed the meet and greet and Lightfoot was very nice.

I have "Beautiful" on iTunes and I frequently leave it playing on repeat so my wife will hear it when she gets home.
