Location: big island		the best answer i have been able to find is "solid" is a term that refers to something very good or excellent. it was used then as it is now. there is also a bit of a play on the words, "solid" and "salad". so the title seems to be merely a hip ditty about a popular food.

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains		I love it! But it hurts my neck just to watch it...the youngest girl (Dixie) Died at age 32...not sure about the others although they moved to Europe after the war and married...Wiki has a good article on them.
