Hi Everyone,
I just purchased another Ovation (my fourth) it's a 12 string, really beautiful, natural top, only problem is that it has a fairly pronounced underset neck. The neck is very straight, it just looks like it has tilted up. The heel of the neck is slightly away from the body at the end, I can see light through that interface. Also can see a sliver of light just where the neck joins the top between the fret board and the spruce top. My question is about the bolt on neck. If I undo that bolt does the neck actually freely come off of the body or is there additional glue and/or epoxy holding it together? Is it possible that the bolt may just need to be snugged up to pull the neck back up against the body. (This particular guitar was made in 1990 and seems a little on the dry side so I'm sure it has shrunk some) I'm not ready to dive in and try stuff without some sage advice.
Sending it back to the mothership is an option, I live about two hours from Hartford, but if I can tweak it I'd rather.
Thanks,
Steve
