i've got a problem i could locate no solution for in my search here and in private messages so i will post it and see what the collective mind comes up with:

as of this morning, the XLR on my 1688 12 string with its Op-Pro preamp will only work if i turn the tuner on. once the tuner times out, the amplified sound goes off. the 1/4" connection works just fine.

i've pulled the can to check and clean all connections and replaced the battery. still no worky.

i've used the XLR many times at gigs and church and it has never offered this trouble before.

y'all got any clues?

i just realized there's a short in the xlr connection. i get a lot of static noise when connecting and if i hold the connector a certain way the xlr works fine without the dummy. putting the 1/4" jack in somehow makes the connection better.

Perhaps the 1/4" jack is flakey? Maybe a contact bent in it. I'd look for contacts there, or perhaps a cracked conductor or solder joint in the XLR jack itself.
