So, greed is good. Unbridled greed is bad, but then so is unbridled eating. If we thought too deeply about the state of the world and humanity, we'd be too depressed to live. Or we'd be living in huts in the woods writing our manifestos. All of us here, though, do live charmed lives in many ways. Blessed to live in a time and place where we can enjoy luxuries that we take for granted, like air conditioning and safe water.

When she went to buy her first guitar, her tree hugger friends convinced her that she shouldn't buy a guitar with a plastic back guitar because plastic increased our dependance of foreign oil or contributed to the ozone layer or something like that. When I asked her about the extra trees that were cut to make the back and sides of her Ibanez, she didn't have a response.

Nice gift for an aspiring player, especially if they are aspiring to inherit one of your Ovations.
