I know this may be a strange question but can someone tell me the size of the metal thread screws that hold the strap buttons on an O.

I'm replacing the std strap buttons on my Patriot and older CL with Dunlop straplocks, same as my later O's

The screws that come with the straplocks are self tapper type so cannot be used.
The original screws cant be used because the head is too big.
I could grind them down but I want to keep the orininal parts.

I thought it would be easy to get replacement screws, noooo!!

They are some kind of machine thread.
If you take one outta your newer O's, you might be able to find some to match at you local big box hardware store.
Or even take one outta your Patriot, but you will need to find a bolt with a small enough head to go into the strap-loc button.
Otherwise you would have to grind-down the head on the original bolt.
I emailed the MS and they sent me some awhile back...
But I think that they are on vacation right now.

Jim, I use the originals and just grind the heads down slightly until they fit.

Exactly. I've done this for this very reason. Just lock the threaded end of the screw in a drill chuck. With the drill rotating, touch a file to the edge of the screw head. In thirty seconds your problem is solved.

Thanks guys, I can trim them down with my dremel no problem at all.

I just wanted to keep the screws original in case I decide to put the buttons back on.
