Bobbo's recent pointer to the CG Blues backing tracks prompts a question from a member of the Musically Challenged Ovation Owner's Association (charter member = me).

I know about the I-IV-V progression over the 12 bars (and I hope most of those songs follow that progression).

Question:
When the song's key is in a minor or flatted, does the progression just become Im-IVm-Vm or Iflat-IVflat-Vflat?
I hope I'm not incoherent.
(again)

thanks!

I'll answer with my limited experience, but I'm sure they'll be some good answers forthcoming.

Flatted - same as unflatted - just move all of the chords down 1/2 step - for example in A the I-IV-V is A - D - E, in A flat, they would be A flat, D flat, E flat.

Minor - basically the chords would all be the minor versions, but there are alot of different substitutions you could make - one common one is to substitute a dominant 7th chord for the minor chord for the V chord (so Am, Dm, E7).

Get one of Matt Smiths books - EXCELLENT reference!

BTW - I posted the keys for all of the GC songs in your other thread.

Crimson, Got them - thank you very much!
I am starting on them this afternoon, so if dogs in your neighborhood start howling that would explain it.
