A song dedicated to me and done at a level of expertise that I can relate to.

And an O sighting to boot!

Very cool - never heard that one. Thanks, Paul!

My older sister and one of my first girlfriends saw Harry on one of his trips through Upstate NY and met him out in front of the theatre. They said he was a great guy who talked to them for about 10 minutes while they waited in line. Apparently he thought it was hysterical that nobody else in line (outside of the two girls) knew who he was.

Me, too!

Awwwww, that made me sad. I saw Harry at the Bitter End in NYC many moons ago, and it was one of the best shows I ever had the pleasure of seeing! Memories ...

I've got his live double album. There's stuff on there that I can't listen to w/o feeling sad. Same as a Steve Goodman double album (half live, half studio).....

That video proves even these "plastic" guitars can sound good when they're drowned out by enough other instruments!!!

I got a couple of Chapin cds for Father's Day. Played them all the way to Colorado. That song came up when I stopped at Arches National Park.
He seems to use an alternate tuning on that one. Paul do you know what it is? Anybody have the tab?

I LOVED Steve Goodman; it was so sad when he died. Poor Harry, too.

I'm re-reading Goodman's biography, Facing The Music , which came out a couple of years ago. A must read if you're a Goodman fan....

Mark, if I knew more than 3 chords (which I don't), I would tell you that it's in the key of D with the capo at the 5th fret, playing out of the A position. It's not an open tuning.

That's what I'd say if I knew more than 3 chords.

Which I don't.....

Out?

One of the greatest songwriters of his age. Equaled only by at least one of his brothers...gifted family that.

It takes some talent to deliberately hit the wrong notes, or at least I assume so, since I don't have talent and I accidentally hit the wrong ones all the time. Harry brings back some great memories.

I saw Harry several times. Definitely one of my all-time favorites. Have you noticed we all call him by his first name as if he were a personal friend? That's what his music does to you. In concert, he made every person in the hall feel like he was playing just for them.
