Had lunch with him today.
Of course he wasn't at or table, had to get his own.
And following him to the restaurant he drove just like all the other New Yorkers do in Connecticut, slowly and down the middle of the road, like they're the only ones who count.
Didn't even offer to pick up our check.
Probably plays a Taylor.
Maybe was a stunt double, standing in for lunch.

Celebrities hate to be recognized.

Bovine feces. What they REALLY hate is to be ignored. When they ultimately tell you who they are (and they will - they can't resist) give them a blank look then ask if you've met before. Drives 'em nuts.

Our only venture into "stardom" was when our daughter dated Joe Piscopo's son one summer. I did get to meet the famous father, but I couldn't really tell if I was meeting the "public personna" or not.
As for Mr. Baldwin, I don't suppose he'd be any more impressed with me than I am with him. ;)

Costner's band played a summer festival here this year and they weren't bad. They'll probably never be remembered for anything except for being his band but let's face it - if you have a decent voice and can afford to surround yourself with very good musician's, you should be able to pull something off. It's just something to keep his name out there while his big screen career tanks.

Beal,

I'd be more honored to have lunch with someone with the last name of Kaman than alec baldwin any day. He should have been on his knees begging for YOUR autograph. Without the Kaman family there wouldn't be the legacy of the Ovation guitar, and they will far outlast any of baldwin's cheezy movies. I have more respect for alec's brother than for him. I know ... everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but that's mine.

Costner spends a lot of time here in the Hills where he filmed much of Dances With Wolves. He owned a casino up in Deadwood which I believe went broke, but I'm not quite sure what the story is. (Didn't pay much attention.) I guess his band plays around the Hills a lot too, but once again, I haven't paid much attention. He's never been into my shop, but if he ever did show up here, I probably wouldn't recognize him. (I mean I REALLY don't pay much attention!)

I try to seperate a performance from the person. Tho now-a-days to many "celebrities" are makeing that very difficult. I wish they'd just do their thing and shut up.
Remember the times of "hero worship" back in the teen years? Lennon, Page, Townshend, could do no wrong. Now with what I've read and learned about some of these guys I don't think I'd even want to have a quick lunch with them.

I have a Red Wings and Tigers jersey but there is no name or number on the back. I have not had a "favorite" ball player since I was ten and I really did not want one. That is until the last few seasons. Third baseman B. Inge has great defensive skills but hits near the bottom of the line-up. By no means a "star". He donated enough to do some major renovations at the childrens hospital but did not want his name on the wall when it was offered. He visits sick kids often and trys to fill personal requests for home runs. Story HERE .
I don't beleive any entertainer should be a role model for kids of any age but this guy sets a great example for other players. Do some good things, shut up, and play hard.
I just might enjoy a lunch with him... but I'm still not gonna put his name on my jersey.

I thought he was good in Glengarry Glen Ross(sp?). He held his own against Pacino/Spacey and Jack Lemmon.

The wood used in the making of the statue is locally known as "umburana" - Amburana cearensis. When cut it smells like vanilla or cherry, so in some parts of the country it is called Cherry.

OK, a clarification for those of you who are wondering. When Miguel was here in the States visiting, he brought me a beautiful statue of a guy playing guitar. I was wondering what kind of wood it is made of. Well, here's my answer. I'll get over to the ning site and post some pics when I get a chance. And thanks again Miguel!

Wow...that's a cool story. I am a LONG time Tigers fan. What a great thing B.Inge did. I'm sure the kids were thrilled to see him.

I've heard the name Alec Baldwin but I can't say as I know what he looks like. Why would you want to have lunch with him anyway.
