Well, my old bag finally "exploded". What are you all using, what do you recommend? I carry 4-5 cables, power strip, some hefty pedals, books, and a million minor pieces (tape of various sorts, flyers, strings, talcum, and my false teeth).

PS for some reason PT did not want to share his goodies a year ago. I'm still interested!

PS thanks for all the nice feedback!

One of those canvas wheeled airline carry-on things like the pilots pull through the airport, available in various sizes. Because you can unzip it wide open, it's great for teardown when you want to just fling everything in there and get the hell out (with good intentions to straighten everything out before your next gig).

The gear bags that came with the OFC Slothead guitars are pretty nice. They are made by ACCESS. Not so big that you could fit everything for a whole gig in there, but perfect for the essential and small stuff that you want to keep well protected.

Reunion Blues. Expensive and worth every penny.

Some models of RB are inexpensive.

Also Templeman had a really nice gig bag that several of the membership bought.

ProfessorBB.....didn't you get one of them?

The best gig bag for guitars on the planet is a brand called Tribal Planet. It was offered by Temp for awhile in GB, but are next to impossible to find over here. It is nylon-covered with very stiff pre-formed sides, pre-formed pockets, and very big zippers. I use a removable insert in mine which makes it work for everything from a big dread to the VXT and EA Vipers. I have aluminum ATA cases for the pedal boards, and for all the rest of the little stuff, I use a rolling nylon gear case found at Office Depot. On sale, it was something like $90, is almost perfectly square in size, has moveable dividers inside, and three pockets outside (the front pocket is sufficiently sized to hold large music scores and sheet music). This thing gobbles up cables, mics, extra power supplies, notebooks, and everything else a traveling musician needs. I've even managed to stick in folding guitar stands and a collapsable music stand. It may have been designed to carry something large and portable in an office environment, perhaps a projector or printer, certainly much more than a laptop. I could take some photos if anybody is really interested.

D'Andrea were distributing in the USA. They were showing a few of the non-rigid models at winter NAMM this year, but I don't know if they have any of the high-end stuff.

If you can find Tribal Planet bags in the US, buy them now, as future supplies may be a long time coming. My close friend, ex-business partner, and owner/designer of Tribal Planet died in July, after a long battle with cancer of the Oesophagus. The design rights have passed to his daughter, but for now, to all intents and purposes Tribal Planet is no longer trading.

Looks like these guys might have some web page

But it would appear that the high-end stuff has to be ordered or drop-shipped from the distributor, so probably a waste of time

Paul,
I've been trying to find the Tribal Planet KS03-9A (88 key) bag (per your suggestion) for the doubleneck but haven't had much success over here. Any chance you might be able to track one down on your side of the pond?

I looked at the GATOR model but wasn't impressed with the (lack of) wall padding :(

The TP Keyboard Bags haven't been produced for years. We bought the last batch about 5 years ago and sold out. There might be some NOS lying around somewhere, but highly unlikely

Ok, thanks for the info...I'll keep looking for something other than that damn heavy ATA case.

Thanks, Paul. I'm making an inquiry as to availablility from the Guitar Core site, but doubt if they've got much supply as you suggest. That's unfortunate. These bags are top notch.

The company immediately returned an e-mail indicating that they have a GsX5 electric bag. This is a top shelf bag in an electric size, just right for the VXT and EA Vipers. They're apparently out of New York, but they provide no telephone number and, of course, they want credit card info to complete an order. Anybody ever heard of these folks or done business with them?
