Hey Gang, as I mentioned in a previous thread (Can't seem to put her down...) I tend to make heavy use out of a pick guard on my guitars. I really wail on the strings when I am doing rhythm stuff. So I ordered the Guitar Bra from Luxury Logs. So far I am very happy with it! It is very easy to cut to what ever shape you need, it does exactly what it is supposed to do, and is very easy to remove and re-apply. I do notice a very significant dampening of the sound (it is after all a somewhat soft and heavy material which absorbs sound energy very efficiently, AND I used a very large piece to cover more area than I really need to just to be safe) but if that is an issue, all I have to do is plug her into an amp. I do have one question though. In the instructions it says,

"GuitarBras have been known to react chemically with water based or nitro finishes over extended periods of time. It is strongly recommended that you remove the guitar bra when not in use. They do not have any noticeable effect on polyurethane or lacquer finishes in tests of over one year."

Does anyone happen to know what type of finish my 6778LX has?
Thanks,
David

From the FAQ :

Ovation uses a catalyzed polyester for a thick and hard top finish. Note that in the last 10-15 years the factory started using a thinner finish.

catalyzed polyester? I have a bunch of that in my shop... I bought it to fiberglass a boat I built, but ended up painting it instead. Now I know what I am going to use for the finish on my guitars when I get them built!
