"Vintage Glen Campbell Ovation 12-String 1118-4 W/OHSC"
This one is on E-bay, and before anybody gets mad about no photos, I don't know how to do it. Anyway, the guitar apparently plays ok, there is a little video on the auction page, but the finish is cracked all over the place.
Ballpark, what might it cost to have the top refinished on something like this.
It's a real shame because it could be a beautiful gutar again.
The bidding is at $150 right now.
Just curious if something this cracked would even be worth bothering with.

Finish cracks on those old ones are common and cosmetic only. As long as the cracks don't go into the wook they will have no effect on sound or structure.

Yeah, I knew they didn't really affect the playability, I was more curious about how cost prohibitive it might be to get it refinished at MS.

That is an Amazing number of cracks!

Yup.
Wild isn't it?
I've never seen one like that
Looks like broken glass only worse.
I'm kinda tempted to get it anyway (I won't though), $152 and 13 hours left......

Factory would grind off the original bridge and finish, assuming no wood cracks, then refinish and put on a new bridge. For less than $500 you'd have a great guitar.

It looks like the neck really bows down starting at the 13th fret. Is that normal?

That's fairly common for the 12 fretters. So are the cracks. I hear Ovations do that a lot.

Yes, fretboard humps and lacquer cracks are very common on old ovation guitars.

Knock on wood (topped guitars) I have never had a bridge problem. I will probably regret saying that.

Oops... Dave, I was asking in reference to the GC referenced.

It's just a shame for the thing to end up like that.
I guess I can consider myself lucky (also knocking on wood feverishly) that my Dad's oldie is in such good shape.
