Location: Jet City | Is the Viper bridge/pickup saddle setup any different than a regular Ovation?
For instance, would there be any reason the factory would make cut the bridge channel for the pickup assembly in deeper than usual, cutting into the top itself? |

Location: Indiana | My EA-68 was routed thru to the top. So was my 82 Legend, though. |

Location: Jet City | But beyond and into the top? It's cut into the top and tapering too from treble to bass side. It's deeper on the bass side. |

Location: Indiana | Mine was just barely into the top on the Viper, so yours sounds different. My take though is, I wouldn't worry about it since it's solid mahogany under the bridge. Structurally, it shouldn't be an issue.
I did fill the bottom of the cavity on my Legend, though. I just didn't like the idea of the PU sitting on nothing but spruce and braces. I used .32" ebony cut and glued to fit. Then shims on top of that. |
