Is there a difference in physical size of the body between Medium/Deep/Contour Bowl Ovations? Is the Shallow Bowl the only one that is noticeably smaller in size? Are the differences between MB/DB/CB significant in terms of physical size of the guitar?

For some reason I can't seem to find this out so I figure I'd just ask you guys.

The deep and contour are supposed to be the same volume (in reference to size, not sound). The mediums are about a half inch shallower than the deep. Someone posted all the depth measurements a couple of weeks ago.

Deep and contour are about the same dimensions. Mid depth somewhat smaller. You sacrifice sound with the mid depth but some folks like the thinner feel to the body.

The short version of my answer:

Yes, there is alot of difference in the feel, and you really have to play each type to see what you like.

The longer version of my answer:

You didn't ask about tone, which is good, because (1) too many other factors come into play (top material, cutaway v non-cutaway, number of sound holes, model of the guitar), and (2) it opens up a much longer discussion!

So, strictly size-wize:

Shallow: most electric-feeling. Very comfortable if, like me, you like squeezing the guitar into your body.

Medium: Slim enough to squeeze in close, deep enough to give the guitar the best possible tone (oops, I said I wasn't going to discuss tone :-). I meant to say, deep enough to feel like an acoustic.

Deep: feels good sitting down. Not as comfy as a midbowl standing up (for a little guy like me).

Contour: feels good sitting down. Hardly any slippage, and can still roll the guitar up to see the strings. Standing up, you really have to like a flatback because you will not be able to comfortably tilt the guitar up to see the strings, and (again, little guy talking here), the guitar can feel too far away from you for comfort.

That being said, (and I say this all the time), you have to try it for yourself, as it's just such a personal thing.
