I have just noticed the black finish has very small cracks behind the bridge under the string ends. Could it be that the strings are pulling the bridge from the top,it,s a Custom Balladeer circa 70s. using med elixir phos bronze.Tell my it,s not serious .

Yes, could be small lacquer cracks from the pressure (pull) at the back end of the bridge. Probably nothing to worry about.

My old 87C-5 had those...they never got worse and in fact, following being polished at the MS, were much harder to see ...
