Thanks Watchme, but it didn't work for me. When I hold down the alt key and type, nothing happens. :(

try it again... it's after you finish typing and release the alt key the ° appears.
Hold the alt key down and type 0176 and release the alt key.

I looked it up, and you have to use the number grid on the side of your keyboard for that to work. I don't have one of those. I guess I would have to cut and paste to get it, and it just isn't that important. The * works well enough, or I could just type the word degree, or diminished. Thanks though.

Alison - now that one person has posted the °, all you have to do is copy it from that post.

Watchme, it would have worked for her if she had turned the numlock on and used the alpha-numeric keys...
Good sleuthing, by the way. Mike just had to go and blab the easy way to do it. ;)

Wow - all this talk of chords (4ths, diminished and what-have-you) is real confusing - I'm just glad I don't know "any".

Your bass E and your A string are not played.
AHA! So that's what it is. I wrote a blues song about 20 years ago with that in it ... never knew what it was. I just found it when I was noodling around. Heck, I don't know what half the chords are in that song, but what the hell, it sounds good and it works. In the key of G7 no less.

Ian ... the 4th thing is sort of an inside joke. I'm not sure there is even such a beast. But someone had to say it.

I have to do this all the time at work. We use a lot of Greek letters. It's always easier to cut and paste.

Well, here in Brazil we have modified keyboards, so we can type all those things at once:

âãôõ§ªºüöáàíéó ^~´`¨

When I get back to the USA I´ll just bring Alison a Brazilian Keyboard and she´ll have lots of fun...

Don't lawyers ever have to plead "diminished capacity" for a client? How about defending a client against "contributing to the delinquency of A Minor"? Didn't you ever dream of arguing a Constitutional issue in front of The Supremes?

and that's is exactly why you, Alison, and rest of your "nicey-nice" cronies are fucking this site up. It's all just too damn "nice" and there are a bunch of people who don't need "nice" in their lives because we all know "nice" has nothing to do with reality.

A while ago I'd say "blow me", but let let me tell you, you couldn't pay me enough to let you blow me. I'd rather let Cliff do it for free while Beal watched and Moody jerked off.

Paul, it really is a B demented chord
And it is the fourth chord and you probably want to stay away from it.
Now as to whether it's a demented 7th or a full demolished chord, I'm not going to get into that

if it involves a "Flattered Turd" you need to be careful. There are way too many of those around here

Wow, CR. Even I find that mildly offensive. Not what you said so much as the image it evokes.
