The balance on this one is much much better! Your voice is one that would definitely benefit from a higher quality vocal mic. The clarity and sound quality of your voice comes through so much better on the tune you did while in Denver. PS.....I mentioned that about a better quality mic because I am working on the Grayson tune and just took a break and got to hear this. The difference in vocal presence and timbre is quite significant.

Serge...loads like my vacuum tube ps went south on the bottle. I can get it to fire up about 1 out of 5 times and then it shuts down after about 2 hours....bummer!

Nawww... but Music Mike has first dibs on a couple of them when I finally get around to working things out with him. The Sputnik and the Baby Blue Bottle are going nowhere! I love em... Something about "ribbon" I believe... BTW: Stephen, Phone Home...lol

Serge, it's hard to beat the M-Audio Sputnik...they can be bought new for around $700 and used in great shape for much less...check ebay...there are several used/like new for $300 to $500... Many studios have one (I got mine from Stephen)...Fantastic tube mic @ three figure price...I don't think you can beat it... Here: Sputnik

Along with my Blue Bottle and the Ribbons, a lot of the mics I use are Oktava's modified by Michael Joly. You used the MK-319 that had the premium electronics and top cage mod done to it. I also own a MK-219 and a stereo pair of Modified MK-012-20 MSP with Premium Electronics (plus the additional 3 matching capsule heads) that I use for live acoustic recording. You can save money if you can find used Oktava's and send them to Micheal for the mods but at the time I choose to just buy new and modded ones from him. If you go the used route, I would definitely speak to him first to find out which mics he will currently do mods on. Here is Michael's website. http://www.oktavamod.com/index.html The guy is terrific to work with. I just looked and it appears he no longer offers the mics I have but newer versions. I would give him a call.....tell him you liked the way your vocals sounded using his modded MK-319 and what does he currently offer that would be similar. You can use my name so he can possible look up my orders to see exactly what I had done to mine. I think the main diff between the 219 and 319 was just body shape. If he can't get you want you want I could probably be talked into giving up the MK219. The Sputnik I sold Mike is also a good one but I think that particular mic fits his voice much better than it would yours (tends to add a beautiful low end warmth that you really don't need). That's one of the reasons Mike's voice would sound really good with a ribbon (typically not vocal mics but can be used to extremely good affect) but again your voice would probably would not match well with a ribbon (but it might sound awesome). Let me know if I can be of any help. I could probably send you out the MK219 to play with for a month or so if you ended up wanting to go that way. I think (have to dig up old invoice) that the MK219 ran about $100 less than the MK319.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the biggest cost on the Blue PS will be shipping cost and time lost without it....but I could be way off base. I think those damn things run about $400-500 new (not sure cause mine came with the Bottle).

If I need to send it to another one, send it my way. I ran into some difficulties and couldn't drop in the drums, handclaps, etc like I wanted to (the last update I did to Superior Drummer on XP 32 bit won't work on win7 64-bit....it's 32 bit only and I am still waiting for tech support to help me out and re-authorize my software!) and then I ran out of time. I think your vocals came across really good!
