$6k may be a small price to pay for induced creativity, but it's a huge price to pay for a guitar....

Saw these are NAMM last year and they looked extremely well made. Wether or not they are your cup of tea is personal preference but the quality, at least what I saw, was every bit becoming of a $6k guitar.

Not exactly the nicest looking thing is it? Wonder what it sounds like. I reckon the 1537 would tear it a new one ;)

I think they look pretty nice. Especially the non-cutaway.
Still, that's a lot of money for something that doesn't have the name Collings on the headstock.

All [ am saying is if you get a chance to strum a few chords try it,it will change your opinion that prs builds only electric guitars.it plays and feels like a step above the rest.

Those pictures don't do it justice. I played one on Friday. Great sound and the quality was excellent. Next time I go to Willcutt's I'll ask them to bring out a Collings so I can A/B them.

I saw a mini-documentary on TV a few months back which was highlighting how companies were weathering the recession and changing thier business model to adapt to the times ... they interviewed PRS himself and filmed a tour through his shop in Maryland, emphasizing the acoustic guitar building. PRS basically said that they had a lot of excess capacity, excellent luthiers, and access to high quality wood so off they went. The message was that they were doing what they had to to keep the business alive and the doors open. If you buy one of these you can add a saved job to that White House site.

I saw the same documentary...the part that got my attention was when PRS announced that 25% of the factory workforce had been laid off; when asked if they would be rehired, the answer was negative; probably not...
These are nice guitars I'm sure: I love their electrics and I am sure that the workmanship is just as nice...but I dunno...I'd have to play one first.
On the other hand, Collings has started building electrics...so has Taylor...and Breedlove...etc.
Everybody is searching for that slice of the pie...

I'd rather have a Collings electric than a PRS acoustic.

Big Suprise, I do.
