And they ain't sharing.
This leaves the rest of us to try and help-out those less fortunate.
Here is something that I have learned in life...
Everybody who has EVER picked me up Hitch-hiking has hitch-hiked before themselves.
90% of the people who give money to the poor have been poor themselves.
If you are asking for spare-change, poor people will give you all the money in their pocket...
Cuz they have been there, and are not far from being there again!
Rich people don't give money away... That is how they stay rich. (yes, there are exceptions)
The Rich people are worried about the stock market. The poor people are worried about jobs.
Poor people don't care about the stock market, they never had a dog in that fight anyway.
Poor people are just happy if they have all their bills paid so the won't get evicted.
I don't know what I will be doing for Thanksgiving...
But I'm gonna ask the women in my building what they are doing.
They might be preparing a community meal of some sort. They usually do...
So I will pitch-in some food or money, and let the people who know how to cook be creative and feed the 160 people in my building.
Thanksgiving is the one day when we try to make sure everybody in America has One Good Meal.
(Come about January, after the Holidays, everybody will forget about the poor folks 'til next year) |

We have been there a lot lately...except for less than 24 hours, my wife was with our daughter for seven weeks as my son-in-law was still at Central Command. We are within two months of having our granddaughter...tough pregnancy, SO MUCH to be thankful for...
In the past, I, as a young Marine, have been invited to a caring family for dinner. My Battalion, when I was in Portland, reciprocated by turning our center into a huge mess hall for those that needed a family (helped that I had a Marine who was head chef for the Vet. hospital. We all do out part, now cash for organizations.
We don't stop...I have a staff that contributes all I pay to an American VFW post in the Philippines that brings doctors (contributing their time and expertise) to do surgery for cleft lip and palate. He has gone over to do anything he can. I have given him cash to make up funding shortages. We actively support Toys for Tots, a Marine Corps effort throughout the year to assist families with Christmas gifts, as well as literacy efforts.
I take some exception to Arthur, I see the charitable and tax support that those considered wealthy ($250,000 per our current administration) give or are taxed. They pay approximately 70% of our taxes. I hope they stay healthy, wealthy, and wise. |

Location: Reisterstown, Maryland | My daughter and granddaughter are coming up from Florida and we are going to Pennsburg, Pa. for Thanksgiving with my Ex-sister-in-laws and now I hear all my ex-in-laws plus my ex is coming too! This ought to be fun.
Actually, we get along fine.

Location: South of most, North of few | We're going RVing in Sarasota with a trip to Busch Gardens on Thanksgiving day when there shouldn't be any crowds. Taking the Turkey with us for a nice dinner on Friday. Home sweet home....

Anita It sounds like you're going to have fun where you are at.
It is actually a lot of fun, but I have to get up early to do so. I usually get there about 7:00 a.m. and already there will be a huge line of people ready to volunteer.
One year I also worked at the preparation of the meal also. They start cooking the turkeys the weekend before Thanksgiving and freeze the dinners. It's quite an operation they have.
I used to volunteer at a soup kitchen during other parts of the year, but our church is no longer involved with it. I'm seriously thinking of finding another soup kitchen or food bank to volunteer at.

My parents and sister are coming as well as both sons, daughter in law and 3 year old grandson...
Have t eat in shifts, but who cares. We are all together.
After dinner, oldest son and I will sit and he gets a few guitar lessons... (No he does NOT have an Ovation. I picked up a nice sounding Yamaha for him at GC) 275 with a nice gig bag, extra set of strings, and a nice chord book)
