Location: Florida Central Gulf Coast | Has anyone here been successful in reattaching an HS 'ear' with minimal evidence of such?
I have a chance of getting an Ovation that had an ear glued back on. But it is an obvious repair.
Any solutions or suggestions? Does the MS perform such an operation?

Location: Phoenix AZ | YES. I bought an old 1127 Artist with a missing ear. I had Rich Beck guitars here in the Phoenix area fabricate a replacement for me. He milled down a nice piece of mahogany into the exact shape needed and then fit it into position. Gloss and buffed finished it so it was just about invisible. The "seam" looked like a small scratch in the lacquer, nothing more. You could actually see nothing of it from the front, seam was only visible slightly from the rear. I think I paid about $175. for the repair, but Beck is not known to be cheap. |

I wanted the chip to show so I didn't worry about staining it. The most important part was to make sure the part on the HS that was getting the fix was ABSOLUTELY flat. After that it was a smiple bit to glue on the patch, and remove averything that didn't look like an ear. |

dawg, day-um fine job! I would have had to try a bit of stain since that fit is awesome.

Location: SoCal | My first Ovation, a 1121 Artist, was $25 off because it had fallen over and the same ear as in this pic had broken off. A friend who did wood work carved a new ear. You could see it but had to be looking for it.
I traded that guitar for my "for shit sounding" Legend (hey, I was young and stupid) in early 1979. Everytime I see a local Artist model for sale on ebay, I look to see if it was mine.... |

Location: Huntington Beach | I read a post a while back that had pics of an ear transplant performed by the MS that looked perfect. Don't remember who it was but he will be by shortly. |
