Location: Huntington Beach | Hi guys - I have a '78 1617 - my handle and favorite player. The electronics died several years ago, I think its the pickup, so I removed the electronics and battery and the acoustic sound is better. I want to plug it in again and am considering the Fishman pickup with endpin preamp or possibly pickup/to jack to external preamp solution. Any one have experience with either of these scenarios? Thanks |

Location: Huntington Beach | There are only 2 small holes - 1 for the volume pot that can be converted to a strap button and 1 for the battery attachment device that can be easily plugged with a nut and bolt. What about the system for the parlor C. I'd prefer to not cut holes in the bowl for sound reasons. The old electronics were really a pain - would require periodic re-tightening and inconvenient battery access. |

The preamp and controls hide inside the soundhole with an endpin jack. Sounded great and is a pretty slick system. The one drawback: you may have to loosen/remove the strings to change the battery. |

When finishing modifications on a bowl and need to plug a hole or two, consider the plastic "body rivets" found at auto parts stores.
They come in a variety of sizes and should look more appealing. |
