Location: Germany | Hello,
being shortly before buying a 2006 collectors new from a shop in the Netherlands, I was just informed that they don't have the "certificate of authenticity", as they can't find it in the case. (The guitar was in the shop's exposition.)
Do you have any idea if it will be possible to get a copy of it and whom to ask? Has this to be ordered by the shop or can I do it on my own?
Does it have any impact on the lifetime guaranty?
Thanks a lot for you help and best regards,
Juergen |

Location: Parkersburg, WV | I don't think a COA came with the 2006 Collectors Edition. I purchased mine new in '06 and none was provided, just the owners manual, VIP info etc.
As far as the warranty, registration is the key, not the COA.

Location: Germany | Hi Patsbro,
so maybe there are no COAs anymore?
That would be a reasonable explanation why I didn't find a picture of it on ovationtribute.com for models after 2003...
I'm very relieved to read that this isn't important for the warranty.
Do you still own your 2006 CE?
Is there anything special you could tell me to keep an eye (or ear) on? Would you buy it again?
My personal impression is very good, but I didn't find any reviews - and it will be the most expensive guitar I've bought so far...
Many thank for your valuable information and best greetings,

Location: Parkersburg, WV | Hi Juergen,
I'm glad I could help.
I still own my '06 but mostly play my '77 Custom Balladeer which was my first Ovation. If I remember correctly, the '06 came out about the time that KOA started to become real popular with guitar makers. The only real minor drawback with the '06 is that you have to be "plugged in" to use the built in tuner with the VIP preamp. I'm not sure if this has changed in later guitars with the VIP, but I remember it stirring up debate on this forum at the time. You may want to run a search in the archived section for more opinions on this and other aspects of the 2006 Collectors edition.
Enjoy your guitar!
