Location: Sydney, Australia | Played at a funeral yesterday. I always carry a spare battery, but broke my rule yesterday. After the first song the little battery light started madly flashing. I checked inside the case - no spare! I thought it'll last until the end of the funeral.
Next song no sound was coming out (or it was lower volume?) even though the little red light was still flashing. The song after, it started clicking through the speakers (loudly) through the church. Luckily there were other guitarists and I could stop playing long enough to pull the cable out.
Morale of the story: don't ignore that little flashing light, not even for 10 minutes. |

This is why you need to plug-in to use the tuna on them things.
And like an old Ford pick-up I used to use at work...

Location: NJ | I just made th'switch to rechargeables.
When th'Guitars get packed into the cases t'go to th'Gig, they get freshly-charged batteries.
When they come back & get unpacked, they go back into th'charger . . .
(I still carry "spares" in my GigBag, but I'm hoping not t'be changing 'em out so often) |

Location: Utah | I've noticed that the VIP and the Studio both need fairly fresh batteries. The battery still tastes fairly energetic (tongue test) but the preamp won't work. Also, once the level gets low it lights up the LED, further depleting the battery as the guitar sits in the case.
An OP30 will work with a battery that doesn't give much of a tingle using the tongue test.
The best plan is to just use a fresh battery for every show. Lesson learned the hard way for me. |

I've never had trouble getting through a gig with a flashing VIP.
But it does eat batteries. The batteries in my Optima would last forever. The VIP, maybe a few weeks, depending. |

I use rechargeable 9v in my guitars and rechargeable AA in my amps and effects.
When they decided to die, they die promptly!
As to the taste/tingle...
There will still be juice in them, but once they hit a certain level, they no workee!
And they get from 8.4, or 1.2, down to that critical level much quicker!
But there is a solution...
Bring Extra Batteries!
That is what that little compartment in the case if for... :cool: |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I had a problem at practice Thursday night ... I noticed the batterey light flashing on a guitar that I had just changed the battery on a week ago. I put in a fresh one(Energizer-right out of the pack) and after playing for 5 minutes the blasted thing started flashing again! (and I always unplug after playing) |

Location: East Wenatchee, WA | My VIP in my 2080 ate batteries very quickly, however I have not had that problem in the VIP in my 2008C. Can't explain it...just is. I would change batteries monthly in the 2080 (even after all new electronics were swapped in), but my 2008C goes 2 to 3 months without a hitch. I am so nervous about it (from the earlier guitar) that I carry a passle of spares with me. |
