Location: Utah | Is there interest and a workable date for a get together at the FlySig Jersey Shore Bungalow? We'll be arriving on Saturday July 24 and leaving two weeks later on Aug 7th. Location: Stone Harbor, exit 10 on the Parkway, just north of Wildwood/Cape May area, a few minutes south of Atlantic City.
Here are some thoughts on dates and activities.
First, our bungalow is full not including the two couches on the porch. The shower is outside, one indoor bathroom. So you are invited but we can't offer luxurious accommodations.
Second, the drive to the shore on Saturdays is horrible stop-and-go all the way down the GSP. The drive home on Sunday is just as bad. Ergo a weekday would likely be better for visitors.
There are two time blocks that are no-go for us. The later evening on Saturday July 31 due to a 3 am wakeup Sunday to drive a visitor to the airport, and the evening of Friday Aug 6 which is the family celebration with the extended family.
OK, so that leaves Saturday July 24 afternoon through early evening on Saturday July 31, and then Sunday Aug 1 midday through lunch on Friday Aug 6.
What can we offer? There's a grill at the house, the town is a ton of fun in a tourist wandering kind of way, and the beach is second to none in the contiguous 48 states. The best fresh tomatoes and corn in Jersey are served nightly at Bungalow Chez FlySig.
As to opportunities for an open mic or other public performance venue, that is still unknown. There is the street in the evening where the kids always gather and jam. There are several spots with benches where people can group and play, with the tourists wandering by eating ice cream and listening to the music. Fun but different, like busking without the money. One of the bars has a karaoke night and a little stage area that may be willing to let us do an open mic on a non-weekend night. In the evening when the temperature drops and the crowds leave the beach there are a couple of pavilions overlooking the dunes and beach which could work if it isn't too windy.
There is an open mic on Sunday July 25 at a church owned coffee shop which would be a 15 minute drive to get to. Probably not alcohol friendly. There may be other open mic opportunities in Wildwood, Cape May, Millville, etc.
I'm offering no beds and no particular place to play guitars. Who's interested? |
