I am in the process of refurbishing a Model 5, early Balladeer 12-string with the small soundhole.
The rosette disintegrated and I've had little luck trying to find a replacement. Customer Service at Ovation doesn't appear to stock anything for the really old guitars and a new one won't fit. Does anyone out there have a source? I'd appreciate any and all suggestions.....

Easiest fix is to slightly route out the rosette pocket and then take one of the 3rd generation rosettes (the factory has these) and mill down the inner lip such that the rosette will fit into the pocket. It won't be perectly flush like the original, but will look darn good. Like this one ...

I've seen that many times before, but so very nice, Dave.
I never spend less than 20 minutes at your site. It sucks me in every time.
Thanks for that.

I have the same problem with an old 1111. Bought it from a homeless guy downtown--proud to add the acoustic only horse to my stable. Anyway, how do you order from the factory. I have tried several times to get my local shop to order parts for me and it never works out. Any ideas?

I just took in a Matrix with a big chip out of the rosette. I mean an inch or so is gone. If anyone has a rosette for one (or ANY intact rosette; I'll make it work!) or even a broken matrix rosette, please contact me. I'll graft a piece in if I have to...
