He wants a lot for it, but quite honestly, I think it's worth it. It'll be interesting to see if he gets it.

A nice example of the "most coveted Ovation ever made". I wish him luck.

BTW, how often did labels inside the bowl get put on upside down?

Ok, so other than the "Innies" and carved bridge why is it better than a "Book Elite"?

It's not. I had the chance to A/B them for about a year. They are the same guitar other than some cosmetics and electronics.

He's put that up several times now. Is the guitar that good?

Yes.

Will he get it?

Very doubtful.

ditto what Dave said.
I owned both for about 3 years.

Unless you replace the bridge on one of them. Then you suddenly have two slightly different, but FANTASTIC sounding guitars! ;)

...the "Innies"...
There's you're answer.

Maybe db should get a Book for his next wienie song...

Hope the seller gets his price.

I hope the seller gets the price too. Personally, I prefer the Book because of the Optima, the hand rubbed urethane neck (no gloss!), and the perkies. The abalone inlays around the headstock are a nice touch too. But soundwise I'd say both the '87 and the Book are right there with a deep bowl Custom Elite.

Exactly why I made the decision to go after a Book over an 87C.

I have always wanted the 87C because of the carved bridge. If you're going to go for extreme bling, you may as well go all the way. If I DID get one, I'd upgrade the electronics anyway.

Why?

It's #29 for goodness sake....

Why not just rout it out and put a Dimarzio and a kahler in it...

YMMV but I have owned and played most of what Kaman sells and has sold including 2 '87C's and a Book...nice guitars but nothing beats the OFC II...At least nothing made by Kaman: and seriously, very little else that's made by anyone else either...although there are a few...

If it floats yer boat, buy it and enjoy it...but since you can only play one at a time, then get the very best that you can afford...

If you just want to look at them, it doesn't matter how great it plays then, does it?

I have a cousin who has a friend who's sister's boyfriend used to plow the snow at the Mothership. He heard from a guy on his lunch break that it takes sometimes 28 or 29 times to get a special run of guitars right.
That's just what I heard.
