But they will play other music that the Music Genome Project thinks that you will like. And yes... All that they play on FM is that corporate-approved crap. And I don't think that they have 'college radio' like they did when I was a kid.

Seems as if this has turned into a full time gig for Dweezil and crew - they come through here a few times every year. I can pick up four or five college radio stations here. Some of what they play is quite interesting and a lot of it is just forgettable. But I've never heard any of them play any Zappa.

It would have fit both categories, interesting and forgettable.

I listen to corporate radio and they play three songs, then twelve commercials. So I listen to NPR... Talk, Blues, Symphony Music, take your pick. (No commercials, just two weeks of begging six times a year) But no Frank Zappa.

We played all the weird shit we could find at the time cause we figured nobody listed to us anyway. I usually worked the 8-12 shift 3 nights a week (with no classes before noon on Tues/Thurs). Back in those days it was you and the control booth so it was pretty boring and lonely. Bout the only fun was when a girl or two would drop by and a full side of an obscure LP got tossed on the turntable.....the longer the better. Got lots and lots of promo LP's which was probably the best part of the experience (+ the credits for class). I did get reprimanded for playing the Mothers Live at the Fillmore East (I loved Flo and Eddie) but the head of the station didn't care for Bwana Dik, Willie the Pimp, Mud Shark, Billy the Mountain, etc.

Well she's my teenage baby and she turns me on, we like to do the nasty on the White house lawn" . Not quite radio friendly these days.

I didn't have to run commercials and such, and I'd just leave the transmitters on at the dorm that was having the party. Anyway, I was pretty used to playing what I wanted, but had to fill in for the morning show once. I forgot that they piped the station into the dining halls and coffee house all day. The Univ. of Hartford Music School snobs apparently didn't appreciate the likes of Blue Oyster Cult, Frank Zappa, Ozzie, and others with their morning granola... I was never asked to do the morning show again. :) Kindofa win win for me. :)

As for radio, I haven't listened to any of that in probably 25 years - it was always crap even when it was good. Mostly now I just find obscure players on youtube like Cisco Houston, Rosco Holcombe etc. Here's one for you all..lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBk3jwNSteo

[/QB] That's on You Are What You Is, a cracking album. I was lucky enough to see Zappa when he was promoting the album in the UK, he had a VERY young Steve Vai in the band. Good days, happy days.
