1st New guitar?
My 1st "real" guitar was my Dad's 68 Deluxe Balladeer, I had a forgettable nylon string box before that (I sill have both)

1st New guitar I bought?
1988 Collector's Series, in 1988, still have it.

No solid or hollow body electrics.

My first new acoustic was the 1976 Matrix, bought in 1977 and still have.
I've never had a new electric guitar.
Second new acoustic was the OFC, bought 30 years later and then the LAV Koa.
All the rest have been used.

First NEW DECENT Acoustic was a Martin D15 all Mahogany, Gone..

First "New" Solid Body was an "MWoody" Special,
It's with my son learing to play.

First/New/Only Hollow body was an Ibanez AW75NT had it for about 3 months and realize I'm NOT an electric guy!! (Not much of an Acoustic guy either :) )

Karen,

After playing it last year, I can see why you would want to hold on to it.

But if you should ever sell.... :D . I am really dreaming, aren't I?

In 1976 I bought an almost new Gibson LP Custom from a guy who had just bought it a week before, wanted an acoustic instead but didn't want to get ripped off by the music store selling it back to them. Mint for $650 bucks. Lucky me. I still have it and I can guarantee it forgot what mint meant a long time ago.

What's important about "New" guitar purchases? Just curious.
Nothing really other than it a big momment for many.

1st new Guitar...... 1972 Silvertone 12 string w/trapeeze bridge. New....All plywood...Sold and bought an Epiphone 12 string. Much better.... BOth are gone.

1st GOOD acoustic.....Matrix 12 string with the REAL fretboard. About 1982 or so..Also gone...Top exploded... Bridge pulled off and took a lot of wood with it.

1st electric 1968 GIbson Melody Maker. Looked like an SG. Sold when my wedding band days were over

1 Hollowbody. Black Teisco . Body similar to a Gibson 335. Again, all ply, but not bad through the Fender Bandmaster. Gone with the wind.

Only guitar currently is a Celebrity Dlx RRBY. Also have an Epiphone Mandolin M30

When I was 19 I took a trip into NYC to Manny's Music, and spent my entire paycheck on a Martin D-28. I still have that git ...
