We were in the city for a week and could only go off for liberty in our uniforms. Apparantly, Marines just back from combat are not allowed to pay for much of anything in NYC :) We had a blast. The guys from Extreme were dicks, and I told them what I though of them in no uncertain terms. I was much bigger than they were and they quietly slipped away. The Slaughter guys were awesome, we hung out with them all night. I met Jeb Bush when he came to one of the Hurricane Shelters I was assigned to in 2004 when I was with the Sheriff's Office, cool dud for a politician. I met Gary Senise at Fort Stewart in 2003 when my Reserve Unit was activated in support of OEF. Fantastic little guy. Met William Forsythe in Puerto Rico, a character actor. When I was living in LA before I went in the Corps, my Uncle had a classic car resto shop and we got some "Hollywood" clients occasionaly: Tony Decker from the old Tour of Duty TV show, Michael Ironsides, Micky Jones (the stereo-typical biker dude, he used to be Kenny Rogers drummer, he's tons of character bits. The last thing I remember him in was Slingblade, played a big bearded member of Dwight Yokum's character's band), Stockard Channing, etc. I "street raced" Adam Rich from Eight is Enough one afternoon, his BMW against my Uncle's Caddy, he won :) Hulk Hogan, damn he's a big dude but really nice. Met tons of Famous drag racers: Don Prudome, Shirley Muldowney, Don Garlits (him several times, he has a drag racing museum/classic car museum outside of Ocala, FL, talked with him there several times, he signed a big drag slick for me before I went off to Desert Storm)etc. All were really cool except for the A@#holes from Extreme, oh and Ty Pennington from the show Extreme Home Makeover or something like that, he's a big stuck up too but relatively tolerable. There's some more but I'm beat, not thinking too clearly....

Last year in Germany we met Karl (Charlie Ramon), but also stayed in a nice guesthouse on the north end of Zell am Zee (sp?). In the bar before dinner the manager asked if we'd mind if Wolfgang Porsche joined us for dinner. He joined us and invited our group to his house for espresso the next morning.

I have seen them many times, but didn't recognize him. (Somehow you just don't expect to see famous people in a little town with a population of 4,000.) Anyway, I said "Grab a guitar and join in". He told me he played banjo and I said "That's even better." After a while I asked what the name of his band was, and I was so embarrassed! But, he was very gracious, and when I asked if he happened to have an 8X10 glossy to hang on the wall he said "Not with me, but I'll send you one." A few weeks later, there it was in the mail. Those who are coming to the gathering will see it. Back in the Moosup days I got to meet Larry Coryell when he came to pick up his guitar, Marcel Dadi (and what a great show he put on for us!) and Mr. Schaller. I think there were some others, but my mind isn't functioning too well today. (headache)

There was this tall guy with long hair standing with his back to me preparing to ride down as well. The ride leader looked at the two of us and decided that I looked more experienced with mules, so he stuck me in the rear with the tall guy directly in front of me. The guy talked to me the whole way down and had lots of funny stories. It wasn't until the end of the ride that we introduced ourselves to each other. He was Arlo Guthrie.

From Arnold and Maria to Scotty from star trek the list is long......The funniest one was Daryl Hall he was so ripped he could barely walk and ask where the restroom was like 5 times. LOL
