On June 3, 1888, the San Francisco Examiner first published Ernest Lawrence Thayer's poem, Casey at the Bat. Coincidence or fate?

Sort of like giving a famous performer a USA made Ovation to play right in the middle of a performance that the whole country is watching.

So, last year in its place Tiger ownership installed signs for Chrysler, Ford & GM at no charge just to show support for the area. . Soon enough GM will be back on it's own with the loan paid back with interest. . It seems like much of the country has sour view of Detroit. I did not like to see the loan happen either. But I am much less pleased with the bailouts handed out to others. Sad to say that it took this type of crisis to fix some long standing problems with the industry. Labor rates for future hires have been more than halved. GM & Ford will be playing on a more even playing field with the overseas makers. For the near future that means that a force that has historicaly driven much of the economy will have much less to contribute. But I'm confident that over time water will seek its own level and we will have a "new normal" that will look pretty good. That said.... I've skirted the rules here long enough. PM me if you wish.
