Just picked up this Guild 12 string. 1979 F 212, mahogany back and sides, spruce top with a lovely burst. Not a mark on it, no fret wear,.. oh yeah, it sounds pretty good too. ;)

That is an intense burst...
And that waist is extremely tight!
Is she wearing a corset?

Shaped kind of like a jumbo OM or something like that. I just can't get over the shape this thing is in for it's age. (unlike myself)

I always thought that Guild made the 2nd best 12 string guitar behind Adamas......and the best woodtop 12 string.

Nice grab TJ

Yup, although I don't know the reasoning behind it. Just extra strength for the pull of a 12 string, or is it for adjusting side to side?

BOTH.

They've gone away from that now that Ovation is building them. Problem was that it made the guitar too neck-heavy. I think they now use a single truss rod with two graphite reinforcements on either side of it.

Nice guitar, and nice photos. Definately WOW.

I understand most of the Guilds coming out of New Hartford these days are outstanding. With the right electronics, and maybe when there's a really cool special limited edition, I might just have to join the queue. Is Al a dealer?

I was down at the Guitar Shoppe in Laguna Beach last Saturday morning. they had 6-7 Guilds on the wall but they were all "pre-Ct" guitars. Kinda surprising as the price book talked about Guilds being made in CT.....

Brad,
I don't think Al is a Guild dealer "yet"!

He can correct me if I am wrong.

How do you know there's not a really cool limited edition right now?

Maybe not on the website yet, hardly anyone knows about it and might have just started to ship this week?

Possibly one that blew away every visitor to the recent factory tour?

Maybe OM size, bearclaw red spruce, all the trimmings, and only 10 of them in the US?

JUST SAYING ...

I'm assuming Dave has another fine guitar on the way. ;)
