Wondering if anyone here has installed a G3 pickup on their Ovation, and if so, how well did it work, did it track well? Thanks.

I have the older gk2 on a peavey electric and it works great. I wantred the additional option of a tremolo which has come in quite handy when using some of the synth samples.

Tracks pretty decent.

Don't know about using it with acoustic strings, but if Al DiMeola uses that setup, it must not suck too bad.

I had a GK-2a on an Ultra 1517 for a while, but it worked much better on my Viper.

Forgot about Al Di Meola, have seen some youtube vids of him using one on his custom legend. Waskel: as in worked much better on your Viper, do you mean tracking-wise?

Yes, that's what I meant. It tracked ok on the Ultra, but was much more accurate on the Viper.

I have a gk-2 on my Elite that has the controls built in.I like it a lot, its been my main axe since '95 when I custom ordered it with a deep bowl.It was a short lived idea and was probably discontinued for lack of sales. You cant beat the sound of a fretless bass with a string patch underneath it.....its HUGE!Im thinkin'it serves the acoustic better than the electric. It also triggers better. Nostr: I saw a youtube clip of a Viper acoustic with the built in controls, the tracking and sound was excellent. Too bad they still don't make those as well. I'm assuming you're not wanting to sell your Elite lol....

Someone (current owner I guess) put up a video last year of my ex Celeb midi viper that I installed the Roland internal system in. Unfortunately I didn't save the link...

The tracking was adequate. Not nearly as fast/accurate as the RMC system used by Godin though.

Scroll down past the USA viper for an overview of the install.

That's the guitar. Nice to see it's getting used.
