Will people give you money when you are playing a $1500 guitar on a street corner?
Would they even know what an Adamas is?
Is the Flame T too flashy to bring out when I ain't that talented? |

Same with folks asking for money claiming they are hungry. Most often I'll give them something unless they are smoking. If they can afford cigarettes they can afford food. |

Do not confuse Busking with Panhandling.
I probably could make more money some days just asking people for 79 cents.
It depends on my location. I have been searching for a good spot in Portland.
Yesterday I found one, but it would only work on business days when people are getting-off work.
I have a good spot at Yamhill MAX station, but it is the same people everyday...
So you gotta spread your hustle.
Also, when I take out an electric guitar people expect me to Shred (I cannot).
So I don't take the Draco out. I do take the P-36 cuz it has a Fishman Peizo.
(I haven't taken the Woody Uber-Deacon yet)
So if I take the Flame T, what would they expect?
Also, some folks expect me to be able to do requests... Not usually.

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Back in the day, I used a Pacemaker and a cutaway Legend...I used the 12 string exclusively before adding the Legend with the premise that if I broke a string (I played too hard early on) eventually I would get down to 6 and still keep going...in theory sounds great...not in application...
Today, most gigs its still mostly a 6 & 12 combo...but Adamas... |

There's a video of Kaki busking the NY subway a year or so ago with her signature Adamas. Nobody recognized her or the guitar, but someone did toss money. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | For band practice, I just leave a 1567 SSB and the UK2 in the bandroom along with my pedal board and Genz Acoustic Pro amp. The only thing I haul is a gig bag full of odds/ends and music. These two guitars are also then available for back-up if I ever need them during a performance, particularly the UK2 if they spring something electric and dirty on us at the last minute. |
