My Adamas 2080 has the Pre amp with image features, and I do not have any of the specs on this feature.
The factory website refers me to the insert that came with the guitar, but I bought it used, without the insert. Apparently, the missing insert describes mic placement and so forth used in the modeling for the various five positions of the Image control.

Can anyone tell me what the difference between the five positions on the image switch? (truth is, I can't tell a really big difference)

Check under "Links" above and go to the Ovationtribute site. He has more information there than you can imagine, including a lot of manuals and documentation for various things. He probably has the VIP model documentation there that you can view or download.

My 2080 came with an OpPro manual, not a VIP.

The 2007C came with the VIP manual, but that is gone with the guitar to a better home. My recollection is that it did not list the guitar models, and neither does the one on the OVationTribute page. There was a video of Matt Smith demonstrating the VIP on the 2007C and he mentioned each image in sequence as he played it. One of the models was the 2007C, several were Adamas, and one may have been something else.

Somewhere I've seen the 2080 list, probably on the factory website. None were the 2007C image. So the 2080 is definitely programmed with different emulations than the 2007C VIP.

The differences in sound between the different settings is subtle, but there are some which definitely sound better than others. I love the VIP in the 2080.

Thanks for help - but I went to the Ovation Tribute site, and there is no elaboration on what the various Images do to shape the sound.

I hope somebody has an insert for the VIP-5 they can copy and send/sell me .

by the way, the guitar is a special order 1 7/8 nut, model 2080, that somebody canceled before it was delivered, and I bought it about a year ago with the VIP-5 preamp.

When I had the '07C with the VIP... #4 was always my favorite. :D

I had been using No. 4, but then yesterday I had to get down in front and play a soft solo. I wanted something nice to show off, so I used the Lost Art Koa custom with the VIP. After monkeying with the settings, I finally left it on No. 3 at about 40% image. Very nice sound. I had also forgotten this was a 1-3/4" neck. Too much gear. Too much to remember.

Aren't the programmed DSP models in the VIP's different for different model guitars? That is, one set of models for the 2080, another for the Koala, another for the 08C, etc.?

That was my understanding. Gallerinski's list seems to verify that, since it specifically includes the 2080 with two different mics…

I just checked my 2080. It didn't come with any details about the images, just a VIP brochure identical to THIS ONE.

I pulled the preamp out of the guitar and took a look at it. My 2080 VIP has a sticker that says "SET 4" on it, maybe that identifies which image set it is programmed with?

(I wonder if they can be reprogrammed?)

That is correct. Bottomline is, you just turn the knob until you find the one that sounds best and who really gives a damn what it's called.

Thanks.
Are these the same for the 07C also?

OMA, I agree, 4 is the best at about 50% or any at 0%...
