Named that by the land sellers to evoke images in northerners' minds of a nice place to escape the snow. Better than calling them what they were - alligator-infested swamps where the mosquito clouds blocked out the sun. Crimson - dang, I gotta start watching Sesame Street again.

Going from 105 degrees in the summer with all the humidity down to as low as the teens is stil cold. Not Artic cold but cold nontheless. I don't miss Florida a bit. Well, maybe North Florida some :)
