Location: liverpool ,england | ive got a 1614 folklore and it crackles a bit when plugged in i asked about this in a local guitar shop and they told me to use servosil elctrical contact cleaner in an aerosol can just wanted to ask on here before i use it |

| Assuming the crackling only happens when you turn the volume or tone knobs, any electrical contact (pot) cleaner will work. You wouldn't spray it on the pickup as there are no moving contacts there, just piezo crystals. You have the stacked knob pre-amp, right? Just spray some pot cleaner onto the shaft and let it work its way down. If the crackling only occurs when you jiggle a plugged-in instrument cable, then the jack contacts may be loose, in which case you unscrew the jack and bend the contact pins inward a bit (assuming the wires are well soldered on the jack pins). |
