Hi,

a friend of mine is very eager to buy his first Ovation. He wants a black multihole (who doesn't :D ). He can spend up to 700 Euros. I already tried to talk him into a used USA-O, but that is no option for him.

There seem to be two candidates. The 277AX and the 2078TX. Now I would like to know, which one would you guys prefer? What are the differences and what is important to know. He does want the contourbowl and he'll mainly play her unplugged.

I'm looking forward for some opinions!

Thanks in advance

Meuti

If he has to have Black... The TX will hide any scratches better.

Shiny black always shows any scratches, dust, or fingerprints.

I don't know about the TX, but if it is the same as a USA T it will sound different.

The textured top seems more 'open' as it were.

The T is actually 100 Euros cheaper. I think the textured top looks a lot better but if the sound of the AX is nicer that would be more important to me. However I haven't played either one so I can't really judge that.

That is what I was thinking about needing a side-by-side test...

I have a 2778LX and a 2078T...
But one has Silk-n-Steel and the other has Phosphor Bronze Martin's so I can't do a real comparison.

But in general the T has more bass and the LX has those shimmery tones cuz of the Treble holes.
