Looks more like plagarism.
Apparently Beal had already thought of that with

This Rare Ovation Pickup

That's an insult to Beal.

Wait, let me get my soldering iron, an old broken pencil mic, some iron brace, and a rusty pipe clamp I think came from an old Briggs&Stratton I was working on.

I'll slap 'em together and claim they came from an old Ovation 1114 originally played by Glenn Campbell (as seen on TV), and set a $998 BIN for its historical significance...

BTW, that Baggs is absurd. I can't imagine the shitty tone, never mind the feedback.

To those chasing after better amplified tone because they're playing something other than an Ovation or Takamine, they'll likely sell a boatload of them.

I'm not knocking the product, it probably sounds fine... just the idea of it.

The phrase putting lipstick on a pig comes to mind.

I can just hear the person installing this in their guitar... "If I just woulda bought an Ovation I wouldn't have to do this"

Well, as someone who is not keen on internal mics, I've used one of these, and they are exceptionally good. I was expecting a re-run of the Baggs I-beam, which really is a piece of junk, but I was blown away. I wouldn't use the Anthem as the only sound source, but combined with an undersaddle or magnetic it provides the realism and "air" that modelling technology fails to do.

I just installed an Anthem SL in my Colling SJ and it is very very nice.

100% glad I did it.

I installed a Barcus Berry Insider PuP to the bridge plate of my former '69 D-28 over thirty years ago...no frills, no on-board volume control, just great sound and it worked well with my outboard effects set-up (pedalboard)...if this is half as good (and from all I have read it is), it's a winner. As for installation, always use a qualified tech if possible...but it's not that hard...I plan to add it to several guitars soon...already in the works...
As for Ovation already having a great A/E sound,PLUS A GREAT GUITAR PLATFORM, of course they do!!! Precisely why I have used them almost exclusively for 35 years in gigs, concerts, worship, etc.; ...but for those guitars that are not Ovation (yes Virginia, there are others) this is a great option...
And seriously, if Paul T. likes it, it's good...of that I have no doubt!

I`ve used Baggs for close to 20 years now and feel like they have some of the best pickups you can buy. The I-Beam was a dud but its pretty good mixed with a element or a M-1. The Anthem mike is not made to be used alone and is only sold as a system. It would sound like crap by itself but its a much better system than the old baggs ribbon and mike p/u. If you like the pickups in Taks theres a reason they are a copy of Loyd Baggs 1st pickup. Go to www.themusicrowshow.com and you can hear loyd Baggs tell the story behind that. You can even hear yours truely if you listen to the whole show.

The seller is obviously mistaken. It looks more like something off a Taylor.
