One of my hobbies is fine cigars. Over the last 10+ years, I've amassed a decent collection. Anemic compared to some, extreme compared to others. Between humidors and sticks, prolly looking at over $3,000 invested. After buying the 1112 and then the Fender, finding this site and recently picking up a 1778LX(thanks, Damon), seems I got the fever. I am really thinking of turning my cigar collection into formal lessons and maybe another Ovation. Besides, my daughter is on my case about the tobacco thing. Playing guitar is something we really enjoy. Lessons would be for both of us. Pretty sure I'd be at peace with myself. Do I need therapy or a prescription for more 'cowbell'?

Anyone who would ask the inmates of this asylum if they need therapy…

…probably does.

Regardless, it sounds like you've got good material for a song: "I sold my cigars to buy some guitars"

It's aural & oral, both stimulating. Gotta make choices. If you want to entertain the grandkids, chuck the stogies.

You're on to something... and THIS IS the therapy part!

Maybe your next O needs to have a nice Cedar top to help make the transition.

This would only be a life changing decision if you were sharing cigars with Monica Lewinsky.

Cigars and guitars were meant to go together. Otherwise, they wouldn't rhyme.

LOL @ you mooks!
Great idea, standing, to pen a song against this one. I'll be working on that. I think a ballad might work. Cause we got both kinds of music here... Country AND Western!

OMA and seesquare, very good points in favor of the change!

mr bobbo: This would only be a life changing decision if you were sharing cigars with Monica Lewinsky.

I'd never treat my cigars that way. blech x infinity!

woody and dark bar melding a compromise to be able to hold onto both!

And then, there's Beal. don't change nuthin Awesome.

I think the following may just sum up my path. I was in my smoking room last night, I found myself wanting to go pick up a guitar and play. If I am playing, I don't even think about a cigar. h-m-m-m-m-m-m!!

If you go with a cedar top guitar, you could end up also buying a hole plug and using the guitar for a humidor.

No help here as I've never been a fan of cigar smoke. Yuck! However, good second-hand pipe tobacco like sweet cherry or whatever the flavor is something I've always enjoyed, although I've never been a smoker personally. Pack away the cigars until some possible future date, and go for the guitars.

Cigars n guitars maybe were meant to go together
Otherwise they wouldn't ryhme.

Could be its life changing time.

No, never with one of mine.

Guitars, guns, and girls. No cigars for me. I guess that makes me more of a good ol' boy than a sophisticate.
