I was stunned to see the MSRP of $929... After my shock wore off, I decided to check ebay prices and found them around $200 to $250 for a 'buy it now' price. Why the vast discrepancy? Do they sound or play horrible or something? David

Now Ovation has introduced CC44Si and the CC24Si. These are solid top with epaulets or center hole respectively. Now that you can get a CC54i for what was the price of just the module. As to sounding terrible, I have one and it sounds alright. The CC54i sounds like "itself"... So comparisons are subjective. But I have one, and I play it. OH! The CC54i has an Extremely skinny nut. Like 40mm! "E" to "e" is 35 mm. (I don't own a good ruler or a vernier caliper)

As noted in another threads something is up as the base idea guitar is being sold for +/- the the price of the preamp.... As far as sound goes, IMHO, my idea's pre-amps are installed in other guitars and sound fine to me.

I downloaded all the tracks available on the iDea website and like to play along with about half of them. I can't comment on the guitar itself since I only honked on one for about an hour at NAMM when they first came out, and at that time, I was more interested in figuring out the preamp.

I was also thinking of maybe putting a can into an Academy. That would be so right and so wrong at the same time on so many levels.

The preamp is a fun toy, even for a technology challenged geezer like me. The guitar is OK and for $299 with a guitar, it's basically like getting a free guitar. If you don't need another guitar, give it to someone who does and use the preamp in your other guitars. Win Win

COOL! Anyhow, just wondering, will the pre-amp fit in my 6779LX Elite? I plan on using the iDea for a travel companion so when I am on the road I will put it back in the iDea, but at home I may want to use it in the Elite...
