No problem. Just didn't want 100 people telling me to "contact J.S. 'cos he lives there"

Initially I'm looking for opinions on the best hotels to stay for a week. Luxury, but without all the hoohaw and 24 hour partying and conventioneers, etc. The Opryland sounds nice, but could be party central, which I hate for more than a day or two.

Dan Schafer is another member who I believe lives in Nashville. I also have some contacts in Nashville, so if you come up empty, let me know and I'll send out an inquiry.

My company used to put us up at The Drake Motel on Murfreesboro Rd. Then again, that was 40 years ago. Sorry.

We looked into The Drake, but they're still trying to clean the blood up from the last mass killing by those kooky motorcycle gang members.

The sign out front says "stay where the stars stay". That's referring to Hawkshaw Hawkins and Hank Williams.
Motel 6 at I24 and Harding is clean. There's a Hooters within walking distance.

Last time I was there I stayed at the Hyatt Place across the boulevard from the Gaylord Opryland and near Ernest Tubbs' record store. Very nice suite style place and inexpensive.

The Hampton Inn (1919 West End Ave) is great: very clean, nice Continental breakfast, very comfortable beds, my choice to stay...close to downtown, the Grand Ole Opry, Printers Ally, great restaurants...

Opryland should be great they have lots of new stuff after the flood. Plan for the 20min. walk to your room and payout the yazoo for parking. The Hermiate Downtown is the old I mean historic luxury hotel downtown. Stayed their the first night of the honeymoon 10 years ago.www.thehermitagehotel.com Eat at least one night a Demos', Best bang for the buck in Nashville. Just ask MusicMishka, Great Food, and affordable, Check the Nashville Scene for music and other events when your in town, The Ryman and Gruhn guitars are next door to each other.

My wife will NOT be interested in staying at the Hampton Inn, breakfast at Denny's, or dinner at Uncle Earl's Pork Butt Express.

I've been to Nashville twice, and stayed in the Ramada Inn. Left the car in the hotel and walked to downtown every night.

You also can swim in a guitar pool:

The Music City Sheraton is very nice. We stayed there last July for the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society annual get together. Nice rooms, nice pool, great food, good service. Not cheap but not outrageous.

Too bad the "Bisquit Lady" at the Loveless Cafe passed away.
