Where to put front strap button?

Joined: April 2008 Posts: 2985 Location: Sydney, Australia | Hi Muzz, I vote for the underneath (treble) side. That forces the face of the guitar upright. My old legend has it on the treble side of the bowl (below the neck attachment) and this always kept it very upright when playing. | ||

Joined: August 2002 Posts: 8307 Location: Tennessee | I like the treble side too. Make sure you have a strap long enough though ... many are too short to cover the extra 5-6 inches you need for the right fit. | ||

AJ, that's sort of what I was looking for, but not a definitive answer. I'm more confused than ever. Doesn't the one on the Collings get in the way when you're stretching for that ONE STUPID CHORD that's way up where the cutaway should be? Bobbo, my strap's plenty long enough. (Shut up Schroeder!) I was thinking about the underside of the heel, but closer to the bottom, out of the way. Opinions? | ||

Check out this site for some handy info: Installing Strap Buttons The other thing to consider is a specialty strap. When you go up there your hand lifts just slightly and this fits right in the palm where the most room is. If it's a cutaway then you might want to put it somewhere else but I have a couple cutaways in this location and they work fine. Love the facebook pictures....... | ||
